The Salzburg Congress is directly located at the Mirabell Gardens in the center of the city of Salzburg. The construction of the modern building was based on sustainability and energy efficiency. Ancient plane trees frame the main entrance, a photovoltaic system on the roof and the facade feeds electricity into the in-house network. The daylight-flooded rooms fulfill the requirement of accessibility.

The certification of Salzburg Congress with the Austrian eco-label "Green Location" in August 2015 was the logical continuation of the already received "Green Meetings & Green Events" certificate in April 2011.
