The Austrian National Library is one of the most important cultural institutions in Austria and, with over 11 million books and other exhibits, a central repository of information and knowledge in the country. Thanks to its extensive collection of objects from various time periods and languages, it is also one of the most important libraries in the world.
The valuable holdings of the Austrian National Library are presented to the public in the baroque State Hall as well as five other museums: in the Literature, Papyrus, Globe and Esperanto Museum and in the House of Austrian History. As the central academic library of the Republic of Austria, it provides readers with numerous library services both online and in 19 different reading rooms. Thus, it connects the rich legacy of the past with the future-oriented demands of the modern information society.
