In 1911, Max Liebermann returns from his American trip as a celebrated psychologist. He is a respected man, head of neurology. Oskar Rheinhardt continues to hunt down Vienna's criminals. He, too, celebrates success with the recent arrest of the long-wanted Franz Burgstaller. But Burgstaller is far more than just a simple criminal.
