The Umweltdachverband (UWD), based in Vienna, represents the environmental and nature conservation interests of its 36 member organisations with consolidated strength and a strong voice. Its work focuses on the conservation of biodiversity, full commitment to climate protection and the development of a nature-friendly energy system, the promotion of a circular economy, the promotion of education for sustainable development, and the protection and sustainable development of the Alps. These core issues are implemented through project work, lobbying and public relations, environmental education, legal assessments and participation in various national and international advisory boards and commissions.

The UWD is also the project sponsor of the Forum Umweltbildung (Fub), an initiative of the BMK and the BMBWF. As a service provider and innovator for educational offerings in the school and extracurricular sector, the Fub develops and offers various educational formats (teaching materials, events, further education opportunities, publications) with a focus on action-oriented learning and the development of design competence.
