European success stories in tourism: 22 businesses awarded with the EU Ecolabel
The Federal Ministry of Climate Protection was the meeting point for tourism businesses from all over Austria and Switzerland, who were awarded the EU Ecolabel by Federal Minister Leonore Gewessler. The certification signifies a strong commitment to sustainable management and environmentally friendly practices in the tourism sector in Austria and throughout Europe.
Federal Minister Leonore Gewessler expressed her delight about the constant increase in eco-certified tourism businesses both in Austria and throughout Europe: ‘The importance of these awards is becoming more and more important at a time when climate change and the conservation of our natural resources have become increasingly pressing issues. Austria's tourism businesses are accepting their responsibility and can be a role model for other businesses in Europe. They show that economic success and environmental protection can go hand in hand.
19 accommodation establishments and 1 campsite in Austria and 3 Swiss hotels were awarded the EU Ecolabel.
Success at home and throughout Europe
The possibility offered by the Ministry of Climate Protection to implement the two most important certifications in tourism in a joint process is particularly attractive for many businesses. 17 businesses have taken up this offer. 2 businesses that have been using the Austrian Ecolabel for years, have now also implemented the certification with the EU Ecolabel in order to take advantage of the opportunities offered by EU-wide certification.
