Kunsthaus Graz as a pioneer in sustainability
The Kunsthaus Graz is proud to have established itself as a "green museum" and to be facing up to the challenges of climate change. The award of the Austrian Ecolabel for museums marks a significant milestone on the way to becoming a sustainable institution.
As a "Green Museum", the Kunsthaus Graz is committed to comprehensive measures in the area of environmental protection and sustainability. This includes not only reducing our own ecological footprint, but also promoting environmentally conscious behaviour and thinking within our community.
Certified with the Austrian Ecolabel
Kunsthaus Graz has been awarded the Austrian Ecolabel since 2021. The Ecolabel certificate for museums, which recognises efforts to protect the environment and promote sustainability, is only awarded to museums that meet strict criteria. Both ecological and social aspects are taken into account.
Certification with the Austrian Ecolabel requires a thorough review of processes and practices as well as the development of a comprehensive environmental management system. This includes the reduction of energy and water consumption, the minimisation of waste and the promotion of environmentally friendly transport options for visitors and employees.
Kunsthaus Graz sees the Austrian Ecolabel not only as an award, but also as an obligation to continuously work on its sustainability strategy and increase its efforts to protect the environment.
The Kunsthaus Graz is determined to play a pioneering role in the field of environmental protection and sustainability in the art and culture scene and to make a positive contribution to protecting our environment.
